Was the first black woman to graduate from Yale Law School, the first to join the New York City Bar Association and the first to join the New York City Law Department.

Chester, PA

Was an American singer and actress. Waters frequently performed jazz, swing, and pop music on the Broadway stage and in concerts. She began her career in the 1920s singing blues.

Was a United States Navy officer. He was the first African-American aviator to complete the United States Navy’s basic flight training program, the first African-American naval officer killed in the Korean War and a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
